ASSEMBLY DEVELOPMENT AND FUN-RAISING COMMITTEE
Thank you, District 2, for hosting an exciting and productive September Assembly! The Development Committee was very busy. 17 people attended our committee meeting on Saturday. Everyone was brought up to date on our activities since the March Assembly. We talked about changes we will try to make for the Pre-Conference in future years, some ideas for a Service Assembly and we discussed whether our groups would be better informed if our GSRs had advance notice of motions before they are asked to vote on them at an assembly.
At the business meeting Saturday afternoon, we summarized the results of the evaluations which were completed after the March Pre-Conference Assembly and the work the committee has done to address some of the problems which were identified. In that vein, our committee introduced a motion asking that the dates of the March Assembly be moved from the first weekend of March to the last weekend of the month beginning in 2018. This will provide more time for our groups to study the conference agenda topics and background material, and offer input to our Delegate. Our motion passed!
In response to many requests for a description of the entire Conference process, our committee developed a chart which depicts the Conference process throughout the year and a narrative description of the process. We were proud to have our Delegate use these in his excellent presentation on the Yearlong Conference Process during the Saturday evening Sharing Session.
Our committee asked the Assembly for feedback about the possibility of an Area-sponsored Service Assembly during the summer of 2017. The sense of the Assembly was that we should go forward in developing a specific plan to be presented at the December Assembly.
Thank you to our Young People’s Committee for leading an AA version of Blind Man’s Bluff which all participants and onlookers enjoyed
