Hello Friends, I’m Grateful to Be Here!
Introduction
Hello Area 46! Jon N. here, stepping in for my friend Andy S. and boy do I have some big shoes to fill.
I am very impressed with how much work and organization has gone into the Hybrid Events Production (HEP) committee. I watched our hybrid events grow from before the pandemic then through all of that as part of Technology and now as its own committee. Wow it really has come a long way and it’s done so much for us and our service work!
I am profoundly grateful for all the organizational work that has been done, and I am humbled by how much has been done – it will make my work much easier, and I believe the committee will just keep growing because of all the work done before our current rotation. I am confident that HEP can continue to support Area 46 in its service to the groups of our wonderful area and state of New Mexico. I really can’t say enough Good Things but there’s a lot to talk about so let’s dive right in with what we’ve got going on these first few weeks of the new rotation for Panel 74 in 2026!
Where We Are – Handoff Status
I have received all of the Area 46 HEP committee equipment and will be performing a formal inventory verification with the outgoing chair from the last rotation by the end of January. In the meantime, we have transferred the Zoom account and Google Drive files and associated information from Andy S. to myself, and I’m up and running with setting up several things we will use throughout the new rotation of Panel 74.
NOT a Committee of One!
The HEP committee will be meeting online on Zoom every month on the 3rd Tuesday, starting Tuesday Jan 20, 2026 at 7pm. The meeting info is on our Area 46 calendar, complete with links to join the meeting. Of course, I can always be reached at my email address [email protected] if you’d like to ask me about what you can do with our committee. This is a very active committee with a lot of things to do for each assembly as well as some other hybrid events that we may support this rotation.
The HEP committee is forming up with some of our veterans returning to help, but we have lost some key people to other service positions (love you folks!). So I will be asking for some help as we go forward from here. If you like computers or if you are interested in helping out with our work in setting up our laptops and equipment for assemblies and other hybrid events, please join us! You DO NOT have to be an expert to help us out! Almost none of us were until we started helping and learning from others, just like we did with our spiritual program of action.

What’s Coming Up
I will be meeting with my fellow incoming Committee Chairs, Area 46 Trusted Servants, and our DCMs at the Orientation and Assembly Planning Meeting on Saturday, January 31, 2026. I hope to find out how the HEP committee can best start to serve the needs of Area 46, including all of its districts and groups.
Of course, the committee exists to support groups using hybrid in-person / online technology as well. There are some very interesting things going on with respect to the increased use of technology like Zoom for online meetings and related technology to promote inclusiveness for Areas and districts and groups meeting in a hybrid in-person / online as well as groups meeting online only. There are examples of technology being used for voting and our AA Third Legacy procedure. I will be talking more about that at our first online committee meeting, so I hope to see interested people there!
With a spirit of excitement and willingness to serve,
Jon N.
Chair, Hybrid Events Production Committee
