The Technology Committee met on March 21, 2026. We opened with the Serenity Prayer. We had 11 attendees, with several expressing interest in supporting the committee.
The meeting focused on two main areas: current Technology Committee work and the proposed agenda item on digital communications.
On the operational side, we discussed the ongoing work required to support the new rotation. This includes setting up accounts, resetting passwords, updating website access, and making content updates across district and committee pages. We are also handling routine maintenance such as plugin updates, resolving issues like the events calendar, and responding to service site access requests.
In addition, we are working on optimizing licensing governance across the Area. The goal is to ensure that technology tools are used effectively, costs are managed responsibly, and decisions around paid versus free solutions are made consistently and intentionally.
The second major focus was the proposed agenda item regarding digital communications at the Conference level.
The committee discussion reflected strong alignment that digital communication is now essential to carrying the message. People are increasingly seeking help through digital channels, and AA needs to be present where those individuals are looking, while remaining grounded in our Traditions—especially anonymity and attraction rather than promotion.
The committee was generally aligned in support of establishing a Conference-level committee focused on digital communications. The view expressed was that this would provide clearer coordination, allow for more consistent decision-making, and give the Fellowship a stronger voice in how AA shows up in the digital space.
We also discussed the importance of ensuring that any approach remains consistent with AA’s principles and avoids unnecessary overlap or complexity, but overall the sentiment supported moving forward with this concept.
Finally, I asked for help. The committee continues to have a high volume of operational work, and there is a need for additional members and an alternate to help distribute responsibilities. Several attendees indicated willingness to support, which is encouraging as we move forward.
We closed with the Responsibility Statement.
